In light of President Obama's interest in President Lincoln, I thought I'd get off my duff and upload these photos of our trip to Springfield, IL. It took a while because I forgot my Flikr login, but I persisted for you my lovelies.
The trip was last May, just after the girls got out of school and we didn't take E3, because we intended to do a lot of walking, didn't want to hassle with a stroller, and knew her legs wouldn't keep up all day. Initally we were to take the Amtrack both ways, but due to some track work they put us on a bus for the trip there.
Rob had called ahead and made an appointment with our esteemed Senator who was gracious enough to give us a tour, some Illinois Blue Books, and complimentary tickets to the new Lincoln museum.
All tourist attractions close at 5:00 p.m., and if we were to take this trip again we'd spend the night because there was plenty we didn't see that day. As luck would have it, we noticed a carriage ride being offered (they'd just recently gotten their permit from the city) and took it for a tour of downtown. The driver also offered dinner suggestions, and dropped us off at the restaurant we chose.
It was a very fun day.
